How Rest Helped My Next Magnificent Chapter Finally Make Sense

A few months ago, I debuted a 3-minute video called When Strong Women Get Tired: When Strong Women Need a Restoration Season.
Since March 10, that video has welcomed 1,231 views, which tells me this message touched something real for a lot of people.
And now, here we are on June 28, 2026.
The rest has done me good.
During my season of restoration, I did what was right in front of me.
I led my two masterminds.
I played a marketing messaging role for a crew of engaged clients.
I met my commitments to collaboration partners.
I honored the promises I had already made.
And when new ideas, tasks, or sparks of inspiration came forward, I did not force myself to act on all of them immediately. I simply kept a list of things to revisit later, provided they continued to spark my interest when my energy returned.
That turned out to be such a wise choice.
Because sometimes restoration does not mean stopping everything.
Sometimes it means doing what is yours to do now and allowing everything else to wait until the time is right.
A Funny Thing Happened After We Came Home
In May of this year, my husband and I traveled to celebrate our son’s PhD graduation.
That milestone had been a keen area of focus for our family.
It was meaningful, emotional, joyful, and absolutely worth honoring with our full attention.
And then, after we returned home, something shifted.
It felt like my creativity and energy came flowing back.
Big ideas I had been thinking about for my business seemed to “drop in” with a level of clarity I had not experienced before.
Even more surprising, I began to see how several elements I had created along the way — elements that had previously felt a bit disjointed or disconnected — finally had a relevant and congruent through line.
They made sense together.
That is when I realized something important.
The Pieces Were Not Random After All
A while ago, I created a sassy and provocative free report about the things people do to sabotage their podcast guesting prospects.
It was bold.
It was funny.
It was useful.
It converted from click to lead at 65% after 250 visits, in fact. That’s pretty strong by today’s internet marketing standards.
But for a while, I was not entirely sure how it fit into the bigger picture of where my business was going.
Now I see it clearly.
That report fits beautifully into the larger idea I am here to champion:
We all have a next magnificent chapter straight ahead — if we can get clear about the conversation we most want to lead next.
That realization helped me understand why the Done, Dialed & Designed™ Workshop I have been delivering for strategic partners and their communities is something I should now lean into for my own community, too.

And I believe allowing myself this season of restoration was a crucial step in letting all of this drop in.
The Rest Was Not a Detour
This is the part I want to underline.
Restoration was not wasted time.
It was not a delay.
It was not a sign that I was losing momentum.
It was not evidence that I should burn the whole thing down and walk away.
It was preparation.
It was integration.
It was the quiet space my creativity needed so the next right thing could emerge.
And now, I feel so good about what is unfolding — regardless of what happens in my shopping cart.

They were simply waiting to have enough spaciousness to see how they belonged together.
Maybe You Are in a Restoration Season, Too
All this is to say:
When you are tired…
When you need time to recalibrate…
When your energy is not what it used to be…
When you are doing what is right in front of you, but you cannot quite see the bigger picture yet…
So do not rush to the conclusion that everything is broken.
Do not assume you have lost your spark.
Do not decide too quickly that it is time to burn the whole thing down.
Maybe it is simply time to stop.
Maybe it is time to let your nervous system exhale.
Maybe it is time to honor what you have already carried.
Maybe it is time to let the next true thing emerge in its own good time.
Because sometimes clarity does not arrive when we push harder.
Sometimes clarity arrives after we rest.
Sometimes our next magnificent chapter is not waiting for us to hustle our way into it.
Sometimes it is waiting for us to become quiet enough to hear it calling.
